Southcoast Blood Bank stops using SS numbers for ID

If you don't need particular information, don't collect it. Do not collect it particularly if that information can put others at risk. A bloodbank in Bedford, Mass. learned the heard way and has stopped requiring social security numbers from donors. A employee allegedly tried to steal the identity of a donor, forcing the rethink.
