The current debate over privacy and electronic health records in Canada is running an interesting article, Privacy puzzlers, on privacy and the movement towards electronic health records in Canada. The article does a good job of considering the different viewpoints on this issue and most of the stakeholders. But, as I have often found in this discussion, there is no voice of patients. Bureaucrats, physicians, researchers, drug companies and healthcare administrators are well represented, but the most important constituency is being left out.
