Rogue Nodes Turn Tor Anonymizer Into Eavesdropper's Paradise

Earlier this week, Wired reported that a Swedish security researcher had set up a rogue node on the Tor network and snagged over 100 usernames and passwords.

TOR, also called The Onion Router, a popular online privacy and anonymity tool distributed by the Electronic Frontier Foundation, relies on a number of nodes to relay web traffic. But if the end point, where the data is finally unencrypted, is operated by some malevolent person, privacy and anonymity goes out the window.
