EU and US study suggests American companies are more advanced in personal information protection

According to a new study (2.5MB) undertaken by the Ponemon Institute for White & Case, American companies are more advanced in protecting personal information than companies in the European Union. This may come as a surprise in light of Directive 95/46/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 24 October 1995 on the protection of individuals with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data.
