Two US airlines install surveillance cameras for pilots to view aircraft cabins

According to the Washington Times (via Privacy.org), JetBlue and Sun Country airlines in the United States have used post-9/11 FAA grants to install surveillance cameras in the cabins of all of its aircraft. The purpose, according to the airlines, is to give pilots a view of the aircraft cabin so a decision about emergency landing can be made in the event of a hijack. The author of the Washington Times article was not able to get a comment from the airlines directly, so is it unclear what policies and procedures are in place to deal with the privacy issues raised by the cameras.
